I didn't really like the writing style in this one. The characters were flat and the story uninteresting. Going from never really saying or talking to I love you let's get married after months of no contract was another minus for me.

I don’t know how to feel about this… I hated it but also was extremely invested so maybe I also loved it?

Audiobook this time. I enjoyed the audiobook but I definitely think reading it was better. There's a personality and rhythm to the writing that doesn't come through when elocution is a main goal. And I never really like men doing women's voices, even though I love it when some women do men's voices (not all though!) I think it might be easier for some women to do the lower range than it is for men to go high? Especially the gravelly voiced men they get to narrate these books. Why are they all gravelly btw? Lol!

This was so refreshing! For a book that is almost just erotica, the writing and characterisation are wonderful. To put it bluntly, there is a f*cked power dynamic that starts this relationship off (not usually part of any book I'd enjoy, definitely not behaviour from an MMC that I would usually care to tolerate) - but the writing is great so I really just enjoyed myself. The little character touches also made it hot and interesting. They felt like real people, more real than real honestly because there was emotional truth there even when it was OTT. I love fiction when I occasionally find something like this. At other times I tolerate it lol. I'll be looking into more of her books for sure. My favourite thing was that I read it in a particular US accent - I don't exactly know where it is from but it came straight out of the writing - the inner dialogue and dialogue. It had a rhythm and sound in my head and that rarely happens to me, especially in romance.

Very impressed

This is the first time reading this author. I had no idea what to expect other than another author that I adore recommended her and that this book was great. That other author was right.

This book flirted with the notion of, "I shouldn't like this but I do" for not only myself but the characters as well. It's not dark or depraved. It is titilating and filled with anticipation as these characters develop into something more than just an arrangement.

Fantastic and surprising read.

Re-read. I just love this book. It's one of my favorites for several reasons.
1. You really shouldn't root for the MMC because he's completely inappropriate but you just can't help it. It's fiction so allow yourself to give him a pass and enjoy the ride.
2. These are regular people. Small town. No fancy jobs. No fancy lives. They talk like normal people and are described as normal people.
3. The sexual tension is through the roof.
4. The MMC isn't perfect but he's not over-the-top "evil" or "ruthless" either. It's almost like the MMC finds himself accidentally in this situation after a monetarily lapse in judgement and he can't help but justify it to himself because he so badly wants the FMC. His guilt and confusion over the situation is explored realistically, as is his eventual determination to make sure she wants him too before doing anything more.
I definitely recommend this unique romance.
