Ok, I had to read the top book of the 21st century. Two friends growing up in Naples in the 50s and 60’s. The friendship is a bit of a complicated one. There was nothing significant or good about their friendship. They seemed to be always trying to outdo each other and never quite getting over their pettiness with one another. Maybe this changes in the other books, although I have my doubts. The writing was good and I went through it quickly. But, is it as it is claimed the greatest book of the 21st century? Not by any stretch of the imagination

Thank u Hailey for the rec I apologize it took me so long to finish lol. I was surprised by how much I found myself relating to the characters in the book despite having so little in common with them. This was such a beautiful portrayal of the young female experience. I really felt transported to Italy. So cute

I adored this book, it was not at all what I expected, and that’s why I loved it. I could not predict what would happen at all in any way. It kept me gripped and guessing. I can’t wait to read the rest!
