In the prologue of Sunday Pages 1985-1995, Bill Watterson tells of his love for the Sunday funnies. The extra space given allowed for more storytelling, or for bigger laughs, as if he needed the help.
If you enjoy Calvin and Hobbes at all, this should be a part of your collection. It's the comic strip equivalent of a Greatest Hits album.

Bought it last night at B&N for my parents. Basically an intro by Bill Watterson and 36 original Sunday comics - not inked - with their inked versions from the papers.
Nothing new really, but some of the insight was neat. Worth the $7 I paid for it, certainly. And it's a C&H book released in 2001, so I figured I should add it to my dad's collection.

Not terribly impressed. Very small selection of comics, and each strip repeats twice (original & color). It's a neat idea to collect some of the strips with Bill Watterson's comments about them, but not really worth spending money on when I'm assuming you can get the same strips elsewhere with many, many more.

Wonderful to read a bit from Watterson. Wonderful to read Calvin & Hobbes.

Unsurprising opinion of the year: Calvin and Hobbes is a blessing, and each strip is a gift. I found this while rummaging through some old books to donate and couldn't bear myself to part with it. As a child, I just read the comics themselves, but going through and reading Watterson's notes, looking at the originals, has only deepened my love and appreciation for this formative work.
Now, to reread all of the Calvin and Hobbes collections!!
