Fantastic, gripping story that will suck you in and make you want to read deep into the night. It’s intense and often humorous. It loses one star for being misogynistic; there are some moments when Light (the main character) disregards female characters, and one scene where he contemplates holding a woman down by force so she can’t reveal his secret.

Re reading the series for the first time since I was 14. Favorite characters are definitely still L and Ryuk. Love Ryuk’s fashion style. An icon. Honestly don’t care abt anyone else yet lol. But I’m enjoying it for the nostalgia.
