This is an okay book. I liked the concept and sometimes I liked the characters but they were hard to relate to.

This was such a great read. Before reading it I assumed it would be mainly focused on Paige getting a boyfriend, but it was a mix of that with grief, loyalty and friendships, and family issues. There were a lot of parts that really made me smile and other parts where I felt sympathy for Paige during her situations. All in all, I definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes reading teen romances and enjoys literary puns

That was adorable and lovely. Paige was fun and I'm jealous of her awesome friendships. Very enjoyable read.

It’s safe to say this book was utterly adorable. I instantly warmed each and every character and both the friendships and romance filmed my heart with all the warm fuzzies from start to finish. It was funny, honest and caring and the sensitivity, respect and lack of explosive drama within the romance was refreshingly lovely to read. Overall, with its wonderful friendships, the cutest. freaking. romance, brilliantly explored family dynamics, Gilmore Girls references (always a win) and a fantastic narrative around grief, The Start Of Me and You was the perfect, adorable, multilayered summer read.

Okay so I started the book ready for a cute, fun easy to read book - and it was just like this. (honestly, I feel that all books with the line “our town was too big for people to know everything about you, but just small enough for them to clench down on one definition”. But i’m saying that as a good, every time a book starts this way I know it’s going to be a nice ride). The book was funny and sweet, and made me jealous of an imaginary friendship. I like many parts of the book and I’ll try the next book when it will be out!

The book is about Paige; who is going to start Junior year, her boyfriend died from drowning short time ago, and her parents - who were divorced for ten years - are starting dating again. She shut herself out and let her grief take over her. But, she decided to find her place in the world, she wanted a change. Paige wrote a list containing five things she wants to do:
1- parties/social events
2- new group
3. date - most specially Ryan, her crush since 8th grade and a popular kid in her school
4. travel
5. swim

Paige started the new years, desperate to try new things. She had a beginner mindset - to think about the good things that can happen from every action without prejudice. When her literature teacher says that the QuizBowl need a member, she bravely volunteer herself. Paige meets the captain of the QuizBowl, Ryan’ nerdish cousin, Max. And the story of her change began.

Scenes/things that I like:
1- Max obsession with airplanes. Especially the scene in the field - my heart died from cuteness. The quiet in the field versus the sound from the plane that took of was powerful. I really liked what he said, that it’s seems impossible to an airplane fly with its weight but its do that. And that he said that we are so used to see airplanes, but there is something about them that defines reasons.

2- I said it and I’ll say it again - The friendship between Paige to her three best friends. It gave me a warm feelings(: I like how they all were there for each other

3- when they meet at the cafe with the bookstore - just like the idea, i’m not sure why

4- the scene at the end, after Paige found herself again and she said “I wasn’t quite ready to be me. I needed to relearn myself, to venture into new friendship and nerdy after-school activities and my own mind...” I really enjoyed her journey

5- Her anxiety and fear from water, it felt so real, it crushed my heart

6- the website PostSecret, that I would not know about without the book

7- Paige wants to be a screenwriter!! which is so cool, and her story about why she wanted to be one? I’m here for that. I just really like characters with a less-common kind of career

and many many more

The book is not perfect, but it is easy to get invested in the story and the characters. I would recommend it to people who likes romance, comedy books!

This book is kind of a slow read, but it's worth it to stick with it and finish it. The Start of Me and You follows Paige Hancock. She is in her junior year of high school and has become known as the girl whose boyfriend passed away. She is tired of the pity and the looks, so she makes a plan to put herself back out there. However, she quickly realizes that some of the items on her plan were misguided and that she wasn't ready for others. Enter Max Watson, the cousin of Ryan Chase, the guy Paige has crushed on forever. When Paige meets Max, she realizes that she only ever liked the idea of Ryan and has actually found herself falling for Max. Max is someone who gets her and brings her out of her shell, especially in the face of sadness. The Start of Me and You is real and vulnerable and I appreciate that. Grief can be hard to deal with, but Paige finds a way to do that while making new friends and being surrounded by the people who love her the most. Also, the emails at the end kill me and are hilarious and utterly adorable. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a real and charming YA romance.
