I will keep this review short as I am sure there are many. I watched the show first, picked the book up after a few years and was not disappointed. Phenomenal story telling and world building. It truly is the show with more detail, insight, and even more stories. Highly recommend for anyone looking into a fantasy medieval setting. While called a fantasy so far the series is not overrun by it. I found the stories to also not be overrun with sex as much as the show implies which was nice.

When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives.

I can’t rate this any higher in good faith because of its handling of sexual violence, the presentation of the Dothraki and the youth of its characters, but man, there’s just something about the original ASOIAF novels that House of the Dragon and the Game of Thrones adaptation can’t quite capture.

Oh the books are way better than the show. I particularly love that we get the characters’ thoughts, it really adds a good dimension to the story. The world building and character development is just leagues better in the book. Also pisses me off that they removed most of the magical elements in the show.

I will say that George RR Martin is sick. Particularly, his depiction of Dany was fucking gross. Some of her scenes felt like pedophilic fantasy tbh.

But I can’t lie and say I didn’t enjoy the book as a whole… and I will be reading the whole series in time for his long awaited finale(s) to this damn story.

I’m especially excited to meet Lady Stoneheart, and discover what Sansa’s true story is (the show runners are going to hell for giving her that rape plot).

A little too much incest and rape for me to truly enjoy, but the drama is pretty unmatched.

I would also have liked a little more info on the Night's Watch.
