Eu moro em Salvador/BA e achei que iria AMAR as críticas sociais que sempre foram enaltecidas pelas pessoas que leram a obra. E, sem dúvida, foi uma das maiores decepções literárias que já tive. Sim, Jorge Amado levanta umas coisas importantes; como as vidas quebradas dos personagens que, indubitavelmente, resultam em atitudes agressivas pelos próprios; o abandono infantil; o que a ausência de suporte familiar pode causar nessas crianças que foram largadas e marginalizadas pela sociedade e por quem, supostamente, devia protegê-las. No entanto, o livro tem tanta cena de estupro perpetradas pelos "heróis" normalizadas (e até romatizadas) que eu fiquei agoniada, principalmente por ser mulher. Não acrescentava em absolutamente nada na narrativa e, ainda assim, o autor fez questão de exibir sua misoginia e racismo (já que os protagonistas forçavam adolescentes negras – com sentenças hipersexualizadas e animalescas dos corpos negros femininos, diga-se de passagem) durante as páginas. Eu teria sentido ainda mais empatia pelos personagens se não fosse por isso. Qual é o nosso limite para livros clássicos problemáticos que são glorificados apenas por serem considerados "clássicos"?

Cara, que livro tenso. 

Já vou avisando logo; tem uma cena de estupro mais ou menos em 1/3 do livro, que é bem explícita por sinal. Esse livro eu li praticamente dissociando por causa do tom pesado dele (e temas).. é um livro maravilhosamente bem escrito , a crítica social é feita de uma forma diferente, quase que deixando as conclusões ao próprio leitor. Enfim, muito bom mas muito pesado, tenham em mente isso, e não vou deixar o início marcado como spoiler pq acho importante ressaltar

one of my favorites books, it's the one that got me into classics, but I understand that the themes can be really dark and not to everyone, but I really think Jorge amado had so much to talk about these children and I learned so much of this, I think that we should learn to separate the wrong action of the characters (and belive me shit hit the fan with these guys, they fucked up a LOT) and have the time in consideration (it was 1932 guys of course it's gonna be dark) of the quality of this book.
