Summer has her life planned out. She's making her way up in the cut throat magazine industry in NYC. When she goes on assignment for a week at Pierce Acres, an organic farm she doesn't expect to be so attracted to the owner, Carter! Even though the sparks are obvious, she has so many reasons to fight them. But will Carter make her forget all those reasons? Or will her secrets keep her from choosing love?
I've been a fan of the Lucy Score books I've read and this one wasn't an exception. I love the relationships between the Pierce brothers, their mom, and between Summer and Carter. This is the first in a series, so I'm excited to see how the story continues.
I was given a copy of this from @netgalley in exchange for my review. It has already been published, so go grab it!

I thought this was a really sweet, lovely book. There was nothing complicated or difficult about it; there were some angsty topics, but they were covered in a very gentle, sweet way which resulted in an enjoyable read.

Firstly, I loved the way the farm and the town were presented, the sense of community was great and there were some adorable ideas about the town itself. The heroine, Summer, was a nice character and a great way to introduce us to the world of Blue Moon. Carter was a great hero - very sweet and caring
SpoilerI liked that he was a take on the uber-masculine ex-military hero that books that was a bit different - vegetarian with a motley crew of quirky animals. It was sweet.
Together they had a lot of chemistry, some really cute moments, and some really hot moments. I loved that
Spoilerthey got together properly relatively early in the story, before the 50% mark, and we got to see them as a couple for a large chunk of the novel. I really liked seeing them actually together, and I liked that there was very little will-they-won’t-they. They pretty much like each other instantly and act on it, and I enjoyed that dynamic.

The side characters were great as well, and I’m intrigued by some of the side plots that were introduced in this one. The main plot was good, it was well-paced in my opinion and I felt satisfied when I’d finished it. I particularly liked the ending and how it all came to finish - I was very proud of Summer at the end.

There were a couple of things I thought let it down a little bit. I thought that Carter’s backstory was a bit dark for the rest of the tone of the book. It was a little jarring, and honestly, it was such a huge thing for me. I thought his response to it was handled well
SpoilerI particularly appreciated that there were concerns in the book itself he might have been struggling with his mental health, rather than it just being a “oh he’s all better!” kind of situation, as it was certainly more realistic.
but it just seemed out of place. On a similar note, I was really, really disappointed that we didn’t get to see a proper resolution to part of Summer’s backstory involving her parents.
SpoilerIt’s established early on that she and her father don’t speak anymore, and she reveals that she never told them about her cancer diagnosis; the scene featuring their reconciliation over telephone cuts off before you see them talk, and I was very disappointed it happened off-page. It felt like a bit of a cop out, and I wanted to see him grovel properly.

Finally, the epilogue didn’t do a lot for me.
SpoilerThe main part of their actual conflict as a couple is based on Summer’s concerns about her fertility and that he wants a large family; in the epilogue, they have twins. I don’t know - it felt a bit of a cop out to have her worry about this and then suddenly in the epilogue they’ve got kids, with no real reference to the possible infertility problems that had literally been a major conflict in the rest of the book. It just didn’t feel right - I think it should have at least been mentioned in passing.

I would recommend it if you want a sweet, sexy small town romance.

This was a cute book. Carter and Summer were fun together and I liked seeing her fall in love with him and the town. I think I wanted a bit more tension overall in the book but it was fun.

Lovely small-town (city girl meets farm boy) read! It was completed in one sitting.

Dialogue was great between Summer and Carter! Summer falling in love with the town made me fall in love with it.
Despite the short time frame, I believed in their interest and love for each other. I appreciated Summer experiencing Carter’s world, and vice versa. Beyond the romance, I appreciated  that Summer succeeded in reaching her career goals despite taking a different route to get there. I appreciated that she didn’t up and leave the city and her career for a man, instead there was appeal to the small town, and she continued her work remotely there.

I also found the brothers and side characters interesting and well developed.

Overall, a great read!
