Hitting a little too close to home. The ending wrecked me.

This book was gorgeously written. I marked so many quotes and passages for the writing alone. I thought that was obviously the strongest part of the book. It was a very quick read because of how short it is, but it was also quite sad, which made it take longer. Not only that, but I wanted to savor the writing, so I allowed myself to take more time with it. The story was amazing as well. I think my main issue with this book is a bit of a disconnect between myself and the characters. I didn't feel for them to the extent that I was hoping to, however I did enjoy reading and learning about them. I honestly couldn't tell you why I struggled to connect with them. I've been in a reading slump for almost the entire year, so that might have something to do with it. However, besides that, I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it!

"I tell Thomas that he’s mistaken, that it’s a love story above all, about the passion that one young man can have for another. I talk about the purity of that kind of crazy love. He tells me that he will never see the film."
