I liked Intimacies better than A Separation but in the end, I don’t think I’m clever enough to fully appreciate Kitamura’s writing. I enjoy a character study but the plot was too slow moving to really hold my interest.

this book is well-written, and each individual scene is interesting to think about, but in the end I would be lying if I said that I didn’t find it very boring and aimless. what was this book about? I haven’t the slightest.
