I couldn't put it down. And I felt the world building was great! I would highly recommend this book!

This book made me fall in love with period pieces. I read it before realizing it was a triligoy and was beyond thrilled to find and read the rest.  Brilliant series. I believe this was Jennifer Donnelly's best work.

Loved it! Can't wait to read The Tea Rose.

It was okay, again very interesting storyline and characters, even if they were a little melodramatic. For the most part I enjoyed it more that the first book. That being said this book could have been shortened significantly with some of the extraneous plot points and side-tracking from the main storyline removed. Honestly last night I got to chapter 133 that's right not 13 or 33, 133 and was wondering if this was like the never-ending book and if I'd be reading it forever.

On the bright side however, this book is filled with great characters and -at least for me- the last chapter of the book redeemed the book for me. If you love romantic books, strong female characters and drama -and can ignore historical inaccuracies- this book is worth a read.

So, the thing is, I know the story is ridiculous. It’s full of convenient (or inconvenient) coincidences. It’s LONG, over 700 pages. And yet I can’t get enough! I just love the stories and the writing. Looking forward to reading the Wild Rose next!

I don't think I've ever wanted a character to die so bad in my life!! If you read it, you know who I'm talking about. When he was killed off, I was slightly disappointed in how it went down.

Enjoyed the read: it was absorbing. The ending felt a little rushed
