This story frustrated the crap out of me. Failure to communicate AT ALL is understandable in teens and even early twenties but these characters are in their thirties and all their issues stem from literally not telling each other the bare minimum. Major red flags for the endurance of their relationship.
They're all like "you're my home" etc but can't share things with one another. Like the entire plot would fall like a house of cards if she had literally just shared with her fiance about the very major and inappropriate thing that happened to her.
I just can't with this. These characters are mentally 15.

It’s a cute story and I love how deep the main characters love for each other goes. But good god I cannot stand the miscommunication trope. It’s literally the ENTIRE book! And it’s not even miscommunication, it’s total NON communication. None of the characters communicate with ANYONE. It’s everyone having misunderstandings because they don’t talk with each other openly. They make their own conclusions and just hide them. These people are in their 30’s acting like children. It made me want to bang my head against a wall because if they would just TALK TO EACH OTHER things would’ve been resolved.
There’s not even strong character development because even in the end they didn’t resolve anything with each other, the MFC brother is the one who explained what happened. Then MFC asks for space and other than a few days of the MMC realizing he deserves love, no development is had. He just shows up after a week of no contact and everything is good🫠

Nate and Amelia were frustrating in all of the best ways. The cast of characters are funny and relatable and really brings you right in the middle of the story. Both mains had so much growing up to do and the lesson of sometimes love is a fight but it can be worth it. Things may not always be easy but nothing worth forever is.
The author spins a beautiful story featuring everything from brothers best friend, friend to lovers, and second chance romance. Her juggling of tropes feels authentic and real while also driving in heartbreak and grief.

Unfortunately for me, this book followed my least favorite trope-where everything can be solved if the couple has a single conversation. You have to read the entire book knowing that, just to get to the conversation in the last bit. I didn’t love the characters-they were in their 30s yet acted like teenagers-afraid of their feelings and running when things got tough.

This book made my heart happy. There was so much miscommunication (a trope I’m not a huge fan of) BUT I loved the story overall. Kind of like the kick your legs giddy feeling while reading.
