A but preachy at times and I’ve read books that said the same things but better

Started off strong, there were moments that felt a little preachy or too self helpish.

- the truest, most beautiful life never promises to be an easy one -

I really really enjoyed this book! I read this, when I was in the healing process of a terrible heartbreak. I never felt more unpleasant and more disgusting actually, then I felt during that time. I always had the feeling, I had to be liked, I had to be perfect in order to be accepted in the world, especially the men one. But no, you don’t have to. You are your own person.
I especially felt like the chapters about how she talked to her children were really helpful in my opinion. I don’t have children myself yet, so I found them very interesting.

I had some chapters that seemed so long, because the topic was not for me. Especially the ones about religion and god just weren’t right for me, as I feel not attachment to that topic.

I didn't know anything about Glennon Doyle before reading this, but I really enjoyed her reading the audiobook and sharing how she found happiness in her life. Of course the fact that she's a feminist was also of interest to me.

this audiobook felt like more of a podcast than anything, which i didnt anticipate. it was super great, dont get me wrong, but definitely more geared toward women with children than an almost 23-year-old afraid of having said child. if the day ever comes where i am a mother, id read it again to hype me up

Parts of this felt trite and leaned into the preachy-ness that this genre of books often contain. I found that this happened when Doyle dropped out of the message of listening to your own “knowing” and doing what you feel is right and into absolutes. So be YOU and live life on your own terms without answering to anyone, but if you give your child a cellphone, you’ve probably fucked them up for life and stifled their creativity in the process.
