A really interesting origin story, with great artwork. The only turn-off for me was the fact that there was a lightsaber fight at the end. Why couldn't it be swords? Or magic swords that didn't look at all like lightsabers? But at this point, it's just nitpicking. This was an all-around good story, and I'm definitely interested in reading more Doctor Strange stories.

Art 5/5
Story 3/5
Right after seeing the Doctor Strange trailer I had to know more about the character. This comic is the origin story of Stephen Strange and while it was good it still left much to be desired. Five issues just wasn't long enough and it ends abruptly with questions unanswered. Though I do now have an understanding of the character and look forward to the Marvel film. Also plan to read more issues about Doctor Strange because hell yeah, magical superheroes!

While this was a fairly fast read (what isn't when you're at work all day with not much to do during the BookTubeAThon?), I still really enjoyed it! I've never really been a comics person per say, but I loved the Doctor Strange movie, and I'm so glad that I gave this arc a try! I'll probably just stick to either graphic novels or comics like Rat Queens for now, but I'm still glad I gave Stephen Strange a chance in comic form! The art was great, the pacing was good, and this definitely lines up more than a little with what went down in the movie! All in all, definitely probably not for beginners in the comics world, but still a decent place to start if you like Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal!

I wasn't familiar with Dr. Strange other than hearing that there is a movie coming out. This was a good origin story.

A very pretty book, I enjoyed it a lot. I never knew that about Stephen's family, it's kind of a shitty outcome for them, and once again the people who care for Stephen are the ones who pay the price for his power. I did like the reversal of Clea's role from student to teacher, though I haven't read enough of Strange's main continuity to comment much on her. This left me keen to dig a little deeper into the earlier volumes.
