It's funny, of all the books I randomly chose at the library, this was my least favorite and it has a Caldecott medal. The pictures are kind of cute, but the how the rhyming was split up really bothered me. Plus, it was kind of dumb. Maybe I would like it more if that classic poem had meaning for me. My 1.5-year-old son also had no interest in this.

You can read the full prayer at the beginning of the book. Then each line comes with a beautiful illustration. This makes a great bed time book, with idyllic, idealistic pictures of an adorable blond girl. At the end of the prayer, all the "other children" are displayed in the diversity, of all origins and colors, wearing traditional clothing.

Caldecott Award winning bedtime prayer story book. The whole prayer is written on the first page, and is too wordy and too long - but stretched throughout the entire book, with pictures, it kind of works. Some clever art, some clever writing - both that show their age. But all in all, it really had nothing for me.

This was sweet, if a little boring. There was an illustration on each page for each line of a children's prayer.

Something about the pictures kept reminding me of some of the old summer homes in New England.
