While the book tackled the issue of the civil rights movement and worked to express the difficulty of the entire situation, it wasn't perfect. A book so short and so basic doesn't express the full integrity of it. And ending on the murder of Martin Luther King Jr. felt like a try hard move to pull more tragedy. They could have discussed more so the atrocities committed, rather than ending it with some basic fact. The civil rights movement wasn't att Martin Luther, I'm tired of him being the only man that anyone cares about. Why? Because he's peaceful, he didn't want to fight. Y'all prefer to idolize the peaceful man and never discuss fighters like Malcolm X. It's exhausting and honestly boring. The art was beautiful, I was just a bit more hopeful.
