Chris brings humor and an original voice to a sobering topic. I don't have cancer, but if I did, I think her book would be more than helpful, once I got over her delightfully cheeky "f**k cancer" attitude.

She chronicles her story from diagnosis to owning her status as a survivor. She doesn't make any of it sound heroic or fake. Her passion for diet and living well inspire. And I have to ask myself, why what for a diagnosis, or a crisis? Why not live a vibrant, attentive life of self-care right now?

A great read for anyone who is going through cancer, or anyone who is a supporter of a cancer patient. Quite frankly, I would recommend this book to anyone - because even if you don't have cancer, you know someone (or will know someone) who does. This book offers a really positive outlook on having the disease, although the author certainly acknowledges that even with the most optimistic of attitudes, cancer patients are in for a tough road. She covers a wide variety of topics, offering tips in each category. Her writing is supplemented with asides written by members of her "cancer posse" - other women who have or had cancer. Overall, I thought this book was immensely readable and offered a lot of good tips, and I liked her emphasis on nutritional healing. Honestly, I learned a lot that, if employed, will hopefully reduce my risk of getting cancer in the first place. My only criticism would be the tone of the book - Carr uses a lot of cutesy, hip lingo, which might be off-putting to some women. Oh, and she seems to enforce certain gender stereotypes - like even if you're feeling sick, you'll feel better if you throw on some makeup and a sexy bra. Not me, hell no! All it takes is a shower and some clean clothes to feel like a million bucks. But criticisms aside, I did like this book, and feel motivated to read her other book on being a cancer survivor.

I found this book very enjoyable and inspiring. I do not have cancer, at least as far as I know, but this book doesn’t have to be read by those with cancer. For me it served as a guide on how to eat and live healthily to give myself the best chance of a long life without cancer.
Kris Carr, an actress and photographer, visited a doctor in her early twenties, only to find out that her liver “looked like swiss cheese.” She had a rare form of cancer, which was considered terminal and inoperable. She immediately sprung into action and started to do all she could to research a healthier way of life, and is still alive and kicking ten years later, still living with the cancer, but keeping it at bay with her diet and exercise.
This book provided me with some good tips on eating properly and living a healthy life. I think anyone could benefit from reading this book, cancer or no cancer.

If you are looking for a self-help book then this book is great. Its a great book for people going through cancer or for people who have loved ones experiencing it.

Just finished Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips before I send to my sister. It’s a pick with some interesting information and tips, but it’s definitely geared towards younger cancer patients which I found a bit frustrating since I don’t consider myself ‘old”.
While I really love Kris’ voice and some of her ideas, I wish it didn’t keep mentioning “young” cancer patients and survivors. When does one have to leave that club?
I skipped most of the sections on makeup and dating.
I don’t agree with some of the tips in the book, I plan on incorporating others.
Overall I found it inspiring and worth the read. Take away what you need and leave the rest.
