This kind of storyline doesn’t really work in novella format for me, and certainly not one this short.

A novella about everything leading up to their night together Freshman year as a prelude to a full length novel about Conner trying to win her back? Yes, that is what this couple needed.

Can’t say I’m wowed by the writing either but I’d give another story a shot

I have read a few novellas this year; some have been okay, and others have left me dying to read a full-length book or whatever is in the series. This one fell in the middle of that. It follows Elle and Conner after they run into one another during a Halloween party. Conner is part of the college's hockey team, and they are both seniors just letting off some steam, but these two have some history. It turns out that they met during freshmen year, and they dated for a bit, but after they finally hooked up, he went awol, but it gets even worse because he left her a note! It was so bad, but it was college, and they were freshmen, and he didn't want to be tied down. Yet she was the one he couldn't stop thinking about, and by the time he realized she was done with him. She avoided him and refused to do anything that involved him or the hockey team. Somehow, she got roped into going to the party. She wouldn't have gone if she had known beforehand that it would be at the hockey team's house. Still, by this point, it's been 3-4 years; she's had other relationships since then, and she's not as scorned as she used to be. But long story short, they end up talking and getting back together. I wish she would've made him beg and work for this second chance. Still, it's a novella, so I understand why everything happened rapidly. I enjoyed the writing and want to pick up the series at some point, but I don't think these two have their own book. I know we did meet some of the characters that ended up with their own books, but this novella is the only story for Elle and Conner. I needed more tension/struggle for these two to love this one, but I still really enjoyed the novella.
