Really beautifully rendered character, a great voice, an interesting “coming of age” for a late bloomer in life. But the explicit scenes of abuse and eventually child molestation/rape was too much to feel good about recommending this.

Throughly enjoyed. The only reason it took me so long to read was because I lost the book for a year and then found it again when I came back from uni. Had quite a few dark scenes that were totally unexpected but good and beneficial to the story but also some that were kind of out of nowhere. Like they happened, and then we were just expected to move on from them and pretend that they didn’t???? Other than that, it was written quite beautifully and I throughly enjoyed watching alethea’s character growth through the scope of the book
