Honestly, who doesn't love some good old treasure hunting and piracy?

Jocelyn sets out on an adventure to find her father's hidden treasure. She must decode the map and face Krueger - a gruesome pirate who is eager to get his hands on Hook's gold.

As the story unfolds we are introduced to new characters such as Tiger Lily and Evie, who become Jocelyn's friends and help her out on her journey.

What I find really interesting about the Neverland in these books is that the people who come to visit may come from different time periods, which leads to Jocelyn meeting someone from her past. And it turns out that Jocelyn must convince Evie to go back home, despite Evie's protests, before she can finally set out to find the treasure. Her life depends on Evie's decision.

I adore the narrator in both books. Jocelyn's story is told from an old, grumpy man's point of view, which definitely adds a lot of humour throughout the book. The book is full of unexpected twists - even for a children's book! It even made me tear up - at one point Jocelyn has to choose between staying in Neverland forever with Evie or letting her go back to her own life and never see her again.

Sometimes the story reminded me of Disney's Treasure Planet - but that's only a plus!

I loved all the snark and humor that carried over from the first book. Unfortunately, I felt that the plot of this one lagged now and then. It never really held my attention. That being said, it was still a fun ride with great characters and wit, and I still think it’s a worthy extension of the Peter Pan universe

FIRST THOUGHTS: What an incredibly delightful follow-up to Hook's Revenge! I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with Jocelyn and the crew again as they embarked on a new adventure. There are many exciting twists and unexpected turns, and I just really had fun reading this!

Neverland tales, to me, are the greatest adventure stories. What began with J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan as the boy who never grew up so long ago has branched out into fun, rollicking tales of magic, mystery, adventure and extended childhood. Heidi Schultz wonderful tale of the adventures of Captain Hook's daughter Jocelyn and her quest to avenge her fathers death (via the ticking Crocodile) and in this story, to retrieve her inheritance; Hook's Treasure do not disappoint. I love the character of Smee - he is just as I imagined him to be from the original story. I really appreciate Jocelyn herself - a young girl trying to live her own brand of "A Pirate's Life". These stories are a unique look at the villainous Captain Hook, who somehow, with the appearance of an unknown likeable daughter now seems more misunderstood and less villainous!

I do wonder, on a personal note, if young readers will appreciate these tales as much as grown-up readers will? The vocabulary is beautiful, and the characters themselves are rich in ..well, character. As a school librarian, I am not certain that my own particular students will appreciate the sometimes snarky-aside humor. That said, this story is captivating and great fun. I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for a review, and I glad to have been given the opportunity to read it. I have already recommended the Hook's Revenge book(s) to several of my higher reading former students.

I enjoyed this one just as much as the first one. It's a grand adventure featuring pirate duels, kidnappings, swashbuckling, swabbing the decks, betrayal, secrets, pirate treasure and as always, learning how to know what the right path for you is.
