This story was adventurous, fun, unique, and a little steamy. I love Christina Lauren and I appreciate their talent and confidence to write something new and beautiful, and totally unlike what they normally do. Their ingenuity and quirky style was delightful in this story.

This is a second chance romance set up in the Wild West involving a group of people who end up on a hunt for treasure. Our second chance lovers are Lily Wilder and Leo Grady. Lily is heartbroken from when Leo left her 10 years ago to return home to NYC, which was supposed to be temporary, but somehow fate brings them back together for this adventure. Leo was a ranch hand at the time, but had grown up to work in finances in NYC. They both continued on to live totally different lives, until unbeknownst to him, his annual trip with his friends is scheduled to go to none other than Wilder Adventures.

An extra star for the delightful National Treasure/Da Vinci Code vibes

I was enjoying this at a 4-star level, but the familial aspects really bumped it up to a 5 for me! I thought this was fun but also strangely serious. I had a good time with it.

"To hell you ride."

This was perfect for me. Nearly every time I read a Christina Lauren book I say, this is my favorite one because they just keep getting better and better and also, I honestly cannot choose between the ones I love.

This book is like all the best parts of the ADVENTURE that is part of the tradition in historical romance, wild westerns, and the movies National Treasure , and The Lost City . I completely understand the wanderlust CL wanted to capture during the pandemic by writing a story like this and I was supremely engaged and entertained for the whole ride. It was fascinating learning about the history of where this story takes place and the Butch Cassidy lore.

The book definitely takes some intense turns I wasn't expecting, but the danger and suspense definitely made the treasure hunt adventure more real.

Bonus points for: 1) Leo Grady, our Asian hero, who shares his first name with my ginger tabby. 2) Another second-chance, lovers-estranged-and-reunited-after-ten-years story that CL write so well, and that I can't seem to get enough of reading/writing too. 3) Fantastic ensemble casts that CL are really great at writing, and making the characters so funny. Literally laughed out loud at some lines.

Love, love, love and getting a copy for my bookshelf. I was just talking to my Mom today about finally taking time in the summer to travel (although we know the pandemic is still present) and this was exactly the book I needed to think about opening my world up again.

3.5 stars - The authors' note to start the book made me lol - follow the book and you will die.
I lived for a bit not far from Hanksville.
There are a lot of laugh out loud moments in the first half of the book, which I really enjoyed and was surprised by. The treasure hunt mystery has a little thriller vibe to it, with some twists and turns I didn't see coming. There are a few delightful endings, including the HEA.

Recommended by Book Riot and pretty much every bookstagrammer I trust.

This book will take you on a WILD ride (pun intended). Not at all what I was expecting but I appreciated the drama even if it was a bit predictable at times. It’s also a good reminder than we need stricter gun laws.

This was an adventure!

I went into this one TOTALLY blind and had so much fun with it. This was a little unlike anything else I have read from these two and I am here for it!

What kid didn’t love the idea of treasure hunting? I sure did! I was always off in the woods looking for buried treasure. Begging my parents to make me scavenger hunts, looking for clues… And this book scratched an itch I didn’t know I had.

This was fun and a little on the darker side. This was adventure and riddles and lost love coming back into your life, reminding you of things you forgot were so important.

Well done with this one Christina and Lauren!
