I liked the premise of the book but felt like it lacked execution and emotional depth. I loved the slow beginning and the way Lachlan and Aine learned to trust each other but too much of the story hinged on them not fully talking to each other. The various different POVs also didn’t really add to the story in my opinion

The first few pages had me a little nervous about what I was getting myself into, but once I read the prologue and met our main characters I was hooked! This unique action packed, wolf shifter story is full of unexpected twists & turns, dark magic, and an incredible enemies to lovers, paranormal romance. I absolutely loved the relationship between badass Aine (female wolf shifter, who has lost her memory due to a dark influence) and dreamy Lachlan (who protects her while helping her try to regain her memory.) Although having a dark & troubled past… this tall, long haired, Irish warrior is so swoon worthy! The first half is good but man does this story pick up in the middle and OMG the ending! If you enjoy paranormal romance, wolf shifters, forced proximity, slow burn romance, enemies to lovers, or just sexy Irishmen, I highly recommend this book! Can’t wait for the next installment of this trilogy.

Thank you to Anne K. Whelan & Liz Cain, Clan Whelan Publishing, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A different take on the shifter wolves and mate story. Only royal shifters can shift outside the full moon limiting the powers of the rest of the pack. Hidden from society, the pack lives completely unaware of much of the advances of the modern age. Some want more power. Some no longer want to hide from the humans, and some want to rule them all.
Then there are the hunters. Those that would see the whole race of wolf shifters eradicated. Yet there are some that believe only those who harm humans should be destroyed leaving the rest to live in peace.
Is the prophecy real or just an old wives tale? Will the two species be brought together or will there be a war between them. Can a shifter and a hunter possibly be mates? You will have to read to find out. I found myself getting frustrated at times while reading this as I would get mad at the characters for some of the decisions they make. Which is one of the things that makes a book entertaining. If you enjoy shifter books this is a good book for you. Not overflowing with sex scenes like a lot of paranormal romance books, but just enough steam to satisfy your cravings.
