It’s difficult to describe how I felt about this one, I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. The main character of Lacey was interesting, she had depth, and I did grow attached to her through the story. It was hard to read because she had no agency, but I know that’s largely due to her circumstances and young age. The plot was very predictable and basic for a cult-based story so my interest waned.

I’m sure there are people out there who would love this book, but I am not one of them. Mainly because I just don’t vibe with books that just torture girls for the whole time in the name of “character development.” This book is a certified bummer.
