This collection of essays was exactly what I needed at this precise moment. I've just come back from travelling and, while I'm happy with the decisions that I made and the amazing experiences that I had, there is, of course, those lingering 'why did I leave everything' and 'what the fuck am I doing now' feelings, which tend to come at the end of such an adventure.

This collection filled me with hope. It showed me that it is OK to just be me, yet I can strive for more if I wish to. That not knowing everything is just fine too; that everyone is imperfect, gets scared, selfish, angry, or unbearably happy that sometimes it even feels wrong. Being in this body and existing in this space/time often feels anything but comfortable, yet this collection presented that feeling as a beautiful, wonderful experience, which should be cherished.

I received advice from young and accomplished women, each fabulous in their own ways, and each eager for other women to succeed (whatever that means to each individual) as well. I related to many and learned from those whose experiences I did not share, yet sisterhood ultimately binds us all together, and we celebrate each other's differences alongside our unique quirks and gifts. This is a compelling book, and not just because of the words that are within it: all the proceeds go to Women for Women International, a charity that empowers women around the globe, women who - unlike myself - often do not have the luxury of wandering into a shop and purchasing a book with the money they have earned.

Us women create wonderfully, uplifting, powerful and emotional works, and not since Nasty Women have I felt so inspired by a collection of essays - we need many more like them for the whole world to enjoy.

Absolutely loved this book! Something I want to save and share with my future daughter so she can learn something from these inspirational and beautiful women.

I have a new-found appreciation for short stories and non-fiction essays in collections like this.
All the money for this book also goes to the Women for Women International charity which is a charity set up to help women in warzones.

Comfort Zones is a very digestible book of short (emphasis on short) essays. Lots of my favourite writers feature and that’s really the reason I picked it up. It’s been the book I kept in my handbag for the last few months as it was perfect for dipping in and out of when I found myself with a stray moment or two.
