This is a great story following 4 generations of women during different times in their lives. It was very interesting seeing how things that happened to one generation would eventually impact another in one way or another. With bits of love stories and crime along the way the book was very engaging and in the end heartwarming. It just goes to show you never truly know how things will work out in the end.

Sweet Hollow Women
By Holly Tierney-Bedord
4 stars

I enjoyed this read by Holly Tierney-Bedord. I have read a few books by her now and I am always taken with how well she writes and develops her characters. They are always well thought out and I always enjoy reading about them. Her storylines are always strong and have a good pace and flow to them. In all honesty this is probably not one of my favourites by her however it was still a nice read.
I think the one thing I loved about this book was really the characters. I love the way they all fitted and connected together, each person point of view was well written and I felt like I really got to know them all.
I particularly liked Carasine; there was just something about her that I admired. She was strong, tenacious and wasn’t afraid to say how she was really thinking or feeling. Her chapters were probably my favourite to read.
The author put a lot of emotion in Rhonda’s character and I could really feel that.
Overall a nice read and I look forward to more from Ms Tierney-Bedord in the future.

Sweet Hollow Women by Holly Tierney-Bedord is a generational book that has several women within one family. I was intrigued from the start of the book. Holly Tierney-bedord has fully developed characters that you ride their emotions throughout the story. I found I identified with Carasine. She has a determination about her that is enduring. She is an independent, strong, and enduring female, but on the other hand her life is a mess. She wants to go home but does not want to have others to treat her differently. I saw myself yelling, crying, and arguing with Carasine. The other characters are just as intriguing as Carasine.

This is my favorite by this author yet. I have read other books by her but this one is a little different, not as funny, more serious. This is a story that takes us on a journey through generations of Sweet Hallow women. We get to see their trials, choices and their mistakes. I love these characters as they each brought something to this story. They are lovable and relateable. They brought the story to life and made me feel compassion and a laugh or two. I highly recommend this book.

Sweet Hollow Women by Holly Tierney Bedord is a multi-generational saga that follows four generations of a family tree through their search for happiness. The best way I can describe this book is it felt like a cross between The Waltons and The Gilmore Girls (without the comedic elements). There was a lot of hardship, despair, heartbreak, poverty, disappointments, dilemmas, ignorance, sadness, frustration, and struggles- and not a lot ‘wins’. The family dynamics was interesting, and there were parts where the characters did chase their dream/s, and were true to themselves- but mainly this book seemed to me to be about how choices can have far reaching consequences and/or effects.
I am a big Holly Tierney Bedord fan, having read most of her books now- but I have to say that this was my least favourite of them all. I hate to say this because I really do love her books- but this one depressed and frustrated me.
The story is told from multiple perspective, and jumps from character to character, from past to present and back again, and from generation to generation- which was both distracting and somewhat confusing. The story itself was interesting- but there was just so many jumps and so much information that it became a distraction from the actual storyline (if that makes sense).
I liked Carasine as a character, and would have preferred for the story to concentrate on her more- with less input from the others. I think if that were the case the story would have read better. I found it difficult to like or connect with most of the other characters.
The story was a little slow to get going and there were parts in the story that seemed to lag or drag. Which is so unlike any of the other books of Ms. Tierney’s that I have read. So maybe it is just me and I just don’t ‘get’ this book- so you should probable read the story for yourself and come to your own conclusion…
I will definitely be reading Ms. Bedord’s next book, because like I’ve mentioned before- I normally absolutely love her work.
I will revisit this book again in a month or two and see if I still feel the same way, or if I was just having an ‘off’ day.
I really did want to love it!

Thank you, Ms. Bedord!

This book fascinated me immediately as it followed four generations of southern women. Although the chapters clearly stated where and when the plot was occurring, I did find myself taking a few extra moments to understand the transitions. Overall I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. All of the pieces and generational ties come together by the end - it is worth reading to the last page. I enjoyed this book very much.

Absolutely loved reading this book! This tells the story of different family members. The characters are extremely likeable and Holly has managed to convey the emotions of each character. While reading this I felt as though I’d escaped the city and business and joined the characters in Sweet Hollow.
This is an absolutely stunning read, I couldn’t put it down! Holly is a fantastic, versatile and extremely talented author. This is definitely a 5* book!! I highly recommend!

Interesting with Plenty of Editing Needing

The story itself was fine, but the copy needed a lot of basic editing. Would still recommend to anyone interested in Southern Fiction.
