I’m not big into autobiographies and non-fiction, but because I adore Katherine Ryan, I gave it a shot. It’s a funny, insightful, personal account of Ryan’s life. She doesn’t shy away from stories that cast her in an unflattering light and reveals some painful moments that made me cringe or broke my heart. Ryan is like the best friend you didn’t know you needed, the mum you admire, and is strangely relatable. I’m not sure how people who aren’t familiar with her comedy would enjoy the book, but as a longtime fan, it was *chef’s kiss*

As an avid fan of Katherine Ryan, I was excited when she released her first book. You'd think after reading many a comedian book, I'd be used to the revelations and thoughtful anecdotes this genre of book often features. And yet! Katherine shares so much of herself and her story in this book. Some that she has told before and some that she hasn't, but through it all, it's undoubtedly Katherine Ryan - real, straightforward, hilarious, and audacious.

I recommend this book (and all her work) to anyone that appreciates comedy.
