2018: I'm preparing to teach this with 6th graders... I love the story but what would you do to connect it with today's 11 year olds?

I totally love stories like this one, little parables that ask you to think because it’s about more than just 'seagulls' or 'rabbits' or 'hobbits'. The story of a young seagull that is committed to learning to fly and improvement but develops into a teacher who asks his students to see beyond the worlds shadows to wonders indescribable. Maybe I’m gushing a bit but this book is so short it wouldn’t take to but half an hour to find out for yourself.

What a wonderful book. It was a quick read, but a deep one. The allegory in it is very much in plain sight. Makes sense and relation with the present political landscape in India, and also makes sense with relation to my life in general, and what's happening of it, I could even relate it to blindly following religions. Its very much inspiring and thought inducing like the Alchemist. Am glad to have read this, it lived upto, if not beyond what I had heard of this book. There is a Jonathan inside all of us, or we're all in search for a teacher to lead us, while its upto us to search for our purpose and break the shackles of our mental limits. As said multiple times in the book, I believe that I am limited by my thoughts of what I believe I am capable of. This is definitely one of those books that you must not miss out on.
