There are quite a few really good and compelling elements to this book but it really shows its age in comparison to other King works. John Rainbird is not a good character and stands out as racist even for the time it was written. Couple that with some questionable elements in regards to sexual aspects, bring this one down a bit.

A top 3 Stephen King book. Every single page had a purpose and this is one of the best books I have ever read. If you are thinking about reading it, go ahead and do it.
