My 5 star review of I Wanna Text You Up by Teagan Hunter

When I first found Teagan, it was last year with Let’s Get Textual. Little did I know I would fall in love with her writing. It is amazingly thought out and well written, and I enjoyed everything about this book, much like the first in this series (note- these are both stand alones, with reoccurring characters- no need to read the first one to understand this one, although you should because its amazing )

I really loved the whole plot- and the play on words of I Wanna Text You Up, I thought it was really clever- and done so well. I was invested in this story and all the little parts that made it up. Caleb and Zoe were perfect, even if they didn’t know it yet. I loved how they met- and everything in between that made their relationship special.

I laughed out loud a ton, I even swooned quite a bit, all in all- I am not surprised that Teagan has knocked it right out of the park again with this one. This is my second novel from her- and I know it wont be my last, its time for me to go and purchase the rest of her stories because I need more words of hers in my life!!. Thank you Teagan for another amazing story!

I loved the first one! This one had a lot of YA like moments which bugged me. I’m hoping the next one is better!

This is the first book I have read by Teagan Hunter, but it won't be my last!

This book is a perfect example of what a romantic comedy should be! I love any book that makes me laugh out loud and then add romance and BAM! I am hooked!

This story of Zoe and Caleb is such a fun journey!  Their texting is hilarious and their in person interactions are even better!

Zoe is my kind of gal! She is her own person with her own needs and wants and isn't afraid to tell it like it is! I love the fact that she is a well adjusted adopted gal and you are swamped with a sad backstory about it! She loves her family and they love her! I like the fact that she sticks with the "Girl Code" until she can talk to her best friend and get the closure she needs to move on with her relationship with Caleb.

Oh my me, Caleb...Such a charmer! It really moved me how he tried to keep bring his family into a better place and they just used and abused him.  He and Zoe had the perfect relationship.

This story is fast paced, romantic and a bit steamy but it doesn't go overboard, I like how it focused on the getting to know each other and taking their time until they moved to the physical! Sometimes you need that slow build up, or anticipation as Caleb said.

Thank you for your words! I can't wait to go back and read about Delia and Zach!

“Hey, uh, Caleb?” “Yep?” “Is that your dick poking me or your phone?” He presses his lips together, trying his hardest to hold in his laughter. “That would be my dick, Zoe.”

Roomies stories... gotta love them!
I had so much fun reading this story. It was fun, it was sexy and it was fresh. I loved both characters! Loved, loved, loved everything about them, this story, the pace!
This is one of those books that just lifts you up. Makes you happier, even if for just a small amount of time.

“Did you just ask me out on a date? I thought we talked about you trying to stick your ham in my meat wallet.”

Overview
Caleb & Zoe. Both college seniors. Told from Zoe’s POV

Characters
Caleb: we met Caleb in Book 1 and he really showed his sweet, loyal, protective side in that book. But, there is more to Caleb than meets the eye and that unfolds in this book. He's emotionally and physically drained, but he’s a great guy. Did I mention he is gorgeous and sexy too? 🥰

First impression of Caleb: I loved him in Book 1 and in this book I had a little pain in my heart for all that he was dealing with.

Zoe: she is an artist who is a bit sarcastic, quirky, sassy and she doesn’t take any crap from anyone. She’s a really bad cook but a decent baker. She’s confident in who she is and certainly knows how to flirt.

First impression of Zoe: she is funny and has some quick wit.

The Story
Zoe’s BFF moves out to go live with her boyfriend (Delia & Zach from Book 1) and so Zoe ends up with Caleb as her new roomie and sparks fly.

These two knew each other in Book 1 before they became roomies in Book 2 (Caleb is Delia’s ex). As they seem to be on completely different schedules and never actually see each other, a lot of their dialogue is via text message. Their text message banter is fun and flirty and brings lots of smiles. The texting actually makes up a very large portion of the book, which is good because the time they actually spend together face to face was a little lackluster.

Outside of the fun text messages, the rest of the story was pretty blah. There really wasn’t much of a plot and the love story was a really, really slow burn. Caleb was hiding something about his family and he didn’t actually talk in detail about it until about the 92% mark. Why didn’t he just tell Zoe about it earlier? That’s a good question. It was a ploy to add drama and it didn’t work for me. I was frustrated that he just wouldn’t talk about his family and then when his back story was revealed it wasn’t anything earth shattering.

Overall
I had so much fun with Book 1 and I was hoping to find that same kind of fun in Book 2, and I did....to an extent. While the characters were texting, the fun was present. But when they were face to face, some of the spark got lost.

H likable? Yes
h likable? Yes
h virgin? No
First time they kiss : 40%
First time they sleep together: 84%
OW/OM drama? No
H/h cheat? No

Did I skip pages? A few
How the book made me feel: the flirty, witty banter was fun. The rest was a bit boring.
Big secrets? well....Caleb thinks he has a big secret, but it’s just his family drama. So....no secrets.
Did I cry? No
Cliffhanger? No
How it ends:
SpoilerIt has a HFN and an epilogue

Recommend? you decide....text messages, so fun to read. Story itself, kind of meh.

Do you have to read book 1 to understand this one?
No. The author does a good job of catching the reader up on the important Book 1 details by adding little pieces of info throughout the story.

Quotes
"Did you just… did you just throw a fucking potato at me? In the middle of the store?”

“I don’t argue. I tactfully sway your opinions in my favor.”

“Caleb: It’s just… my past is a sore subject for me. I’m sure you’ve figured that out by now.
Me: No shit. That bad?
Caleb: Dick stuck in a zipper bad.”

“Caleb: You never stop surprising me.
Me: Is that a bad thing?
Caleb: Not at all.
Caleb: Unless you’re surprising me with herpes or something. Then that’s bad.
Me: Noted.”

“Excuse me, I do not creep. I… admire until I’m noticed.”

“Did you get lost in Narnia or something? What in the hell is taking so long?"

"Caleb Mills is hot.
Caleb Mills in a baseball cap? Hotter.
Caleb Mills coaching baseball? Holy shit, hold my panties."

“being naked on the beach does not sound appealing. Sand would get in all your no-no spots, and no one likes that.”

“Caleb: It’s OUR bed.
Me: No, that is MY bed. I just let you sleep in it. Me: Speaking of, we really need to get you your own. I’m tired of waking up to the smell of your farts in the middle of the night.
Caleb: Those are YOUR farts waking you up. Trust me, they wake me up too.”

h: Zoe (POV)
H: Caleb

Delia is moving in with Zach (from the previous book), leaving Zoe with an apartment all to herself. She puts a flyer out for a roommate and Caleb replies! Zoe has an attraction to Caleb but feels its wrong since he’s her best friend’s ex boyfriend. Caleb and Zoe continually tip toe around their attraction to one another until things get a little too hot to handle.

I enjoyed this book and was able to connect with it more than the first book in the series. I loved the banter between these two! Zoe is such a smartass and Caleb is charmingly witty. I thought these two balanced each other out pretty well. I was a bit bummed that they waited til near end of the book to finally get together. The way Caleb chose to grovel to Zoe was unique and a bit out of the ordinary but it worked for them. Caleb and his loyalty have my heart.
