I absolutely adore this series. I'm so glad I started it. Just... wow.
There are issues to be faced, there is character growth, and the characters are obviously getting older (mentally and emotionally).

Fascinating series that pulls at my heart.
Looking forward to the next.

From this book on, the rangers apprentice series gets its golden period. This book is an example for the next books which are all great, until falling off after its peak: emperor of nihon-ja

I remember the first time I read this book. I was a mess of emotions. Now that I am reading this for a second time, I was knew what was coming and was better prepared. Overall, a great plot, and awesome characters. I enjoyed watching Will recover from his unfortunate addiction and was so glad he didn't give up or wallow in self-pity. My only dislike was the language. It wasn't necessary and it was a hindrance (for me anyway)
