I loved the first four books in this series, but this one really challenged me. The author tried to hit on some darker themes, but I'm not convinced it was super effective.

Thank you to Elira Firethorn for the eARC. It has been a delight to watch this series develop. From the masquerade in book one to the big reveals in books two through four to the beginning of the end in book five. If you had asked me where I thought this series was going when I started reading, I would have never been able to predict any of this book. Elira Firethorn continues to keep me on the edge of my seat with both the plot and the character development.

Speaking of character development, this book was packed with so many memorable and powerful moments. I couldn't get enough. The emotions are really the backbone of this series. The revenge plot is the hook, but it's the characters that shine. It's how they fit together; complementing and complementing each other.

After reading the content warnings and noticing the author's "sorry, not sorry" about the cliffhanger, I began mentally preparing myself for the end. And when I reached the last page, I was not mad at all. This is how you write a cliffhanger! Yes, it was big and changed everything. And yes, it left me screaming, but it perfectly set up the next book. I'm looking forward to book six and quietly rooting for Finn to get a book of his own.
