This was cute, light, and fun - a charming little spooky season read. This one isn't overly deep or meaningful, but I had a great time reading it.
Gwyn Jones loves her life in Graves Glen. Until, that is, Llewellyn Penhallow, returns from Wales - for good this time, opening a rival witchy shop just across the street from her. Their rivalry heats up, but so do their feelings for each other, and when Gwyn's powers start going haywire, it will be up to them to decide how to fix them - and what to do about the steaminess between them.
I read this one a few weeks ago at this point, and I got married since then, so to say my brain was a bit distracted is an understatement. This review is going to be short and sweet because anything I had to say immediately after reading is long gone to bride-brain.
However, what does stand out for me with this book is just how fun it was. I needed a book that was light and easy, didn't take too much concentration to get into, and that's exactly what this is. The writing is succinct and fun, easily digestible without being super simple. The story is straightforward enough and allows plenty of time for our two leads to get to know each other and figure each other out.
And I really did love Gwyn and Wells. Not as much as Viv and Rhys, maybe, but their banter and how spicy Gwyn is and how it brings that out in Wells was really fun in terms of dynamics. I also really loved the baby witches here. And, obviously, Sir Purrcival is the highlight overall.
Some good steam, some fun characters, and excellent spooky Gilmore Girls small town vibes. What more could a person want really out of an October romance?

A cute, silly, smutty book with witchcraft and a talking cat that has progressed from just demanding treats to being able to identify people by name. Gwyn and Wells absolutely slayed me with their chemistry (I love the wicked sunshine and grumpy scholar trope with every beat of my freaking heart). I also absolutely adored the sisterhood between the two cousins and the little slices of life we got to see with (married!) Rhys and Vivi. Plus getting to meet "werewolf" Bowen on an extended timeframe--he's perfect, no notes. The only thing I wanted to see that I didn't get is Gwyn actually telling Wells that she was Penhaven Purple Hair! It would have been so cute, just saying. So excited for the next book in the series!
