This leaned quite heavily into the Sword and Sorcery label; it felt reminiscent of Conan, which I can only imagine was one of the sources of inspiration for this series at large. While I'm now convinced that Elric will never be a favourite for me, I think I'll continue to enjoy discussing these with my reading group and I always enjoy making my way through series that have been influential to the genre as a whole.

Considering how many important events in Elric’s overall story happen in this book, it’s pretty disappointing and not as well written or plotted as some of the other Elric stories.

sometimes Elric feels like the only real person in these books with everyone being a caricature of a person.
