It's so cool to read something written by Hayao Miyazaki that he wrote before Studio Ghibli was a thing. It's so his style. The weirdness, the art, the nature. I really just loved it.
The art style was classic Miyazaki/Ghibli and it was fascinating to see it as a manga instead of a movie. The characters had such life.
The plot was there, yet a smidge confusing but I have come to expect that from his work. It had so much to do with preserving life which his movies have a lot to do with as well.
It was very obvious that movies like Nausicaa and Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky were in the works well before they came to be in the mind of Miyazaki.
