This one snuck up on me. For most of it, I just kind of thought it was fine, but by the end I couldn't put it down and was crying all over the place. Lovely read.

Easy to read with likeable characters, this book is firmly in the category of chick lit but was a fun read and kind of a palate cleanser between harder hitting books.

Wow! What a gut wrenching and heartfelt look at love, marriage & what really matters most in life. So, so good.

The book started out strong. I really enjoyed her eloquent writing style and couldn't put the book down. Then it started to lose my interest. First, I felt like the opera stuff was unnecessary and it felt crow-barred into the story. Second, there were some super sappy parts. Thirdly, the main characters weren't really likable. That being said, I enjoyed the book until the last half of it.

'Skipping a Beat' is hands down my most favorite book I've read so far in 2013! Right from the start, Michael & Julia were characters I instantly connected with. To me, that's key in order for me to truly cherish & enjoy a book.

From their beginning in West Virginia to their current life in DC, the whole journey of the book was heartfelt. The story made me laugh (see Julia & her BFF Isabelle's chat in chapter 18 - it had me rolling!) and cry (see chapter 36 to the end - have tissues ready and be prepared to read the rest of the book through tears!!). It was a strong story that after I completed it, I didn't want it to end! It is the kind of story where you've connected with the characters and story so much that afterwards it stays with you.

I would highly recommend this to anyone - it's fresh, original and one that takes you on a roller coaster of emotions alongside the characters' journeys.

This book had a slow beginning but really picked up towards the middle and end. There were many "aha" moments as the book started picking up. The ending was strong but I do recommend a box of tissues to have on hand. The character or Michael was very strong and I found myself at his defense for much of the book. While things did get better towards the end of the book I found myself wanting to shake some sense into Julia's character as she was acting like a spoiled child. I love this author and cannot wait to read more of her books. Overall a good book besides the struggle to relate to Julia's character.

Loved, loved, loved this book. Definitely my favorite of hers thus far (and I only have one left to read). The story was not predictable, and I really enjoyed it.
