Almost abandoned it but I wanted to know how it ended. Wasn't impressed with storyline, world building or invested in the characters.

I wanted to love this, I really wanted to love this, it really seemed like a YA Outlander from the description and that sounded perfect to me.

I have tonsay this one just fell a little short for me. I think if I had started it without any preconceived ideas I would have liked it more, but the more I think about it the less sure I am of that.

Our main characters were just ok for me, Klara missed the mark, one moment she was too much and another she felt like she wasn't even involved. Callum was all over the place for me, so many inconsistencies.

I know its fiction but some things just irk me and this one hit a few of my buttons.

The story overall had so much potential, time travel is a trope I love normally but this one just had too many loopholes.

I will say the descriptions were breathtaking at moments, I could see the fairy circle, the buildings, the people, the descriptions for everything were wonderful.

Overall it's an ok story, ok characters, and wonderful descriptions, it's worth taking the time to read and it may be very enjoyable to some, it just wasn't what I thought it was going to be.

So having just read the reviews for this it’s seems that it’s not liked. Did I overlook things because I generally enjoyed this story? Probably. Was the Taylor Swift reference a little odd for a Scottish time travel novel? Sure. I don’t know a lot about Scottish history or anything Celtic so I can’t speak about historical accuracy. Because of this I won’t even claim it was. I saw people say this was just Outlander fan fiction. I’ve read the first three Outlander books and it didn’t feel that way to me.  The only similarity was Scottish time travel. Though I can see why they may think that since she does thank the actor who plays the male lead in the television adaptation in the acknowledgements in the back of the book.

I genuinely enjoyed this story. It’s well paced and is entertaining.   I’m looking forward to the next book. Does this mean I just have terrible taste in some of the books I read? Probably. That’s my choice though.

This book had potential to be something that I could really enjoy. Something about the plot though felt a bit rushed and I truly didn’t like the insta love. Attraction yes, love no.

More like 2 1/2 stars. I’ve never read Outlander or known much but I’ve read other reviews that this is very similar. I liked the concept of this book and i think for a new writer that this is a good start. However, for the world that the writer creates or is trying to create…the plot needs to be fleshed out and the development of her characters need to be stronger.

I am intrigued by Callum and Klara but I don’t feel like I really know them if that makes sense. I know that as a writer grows and publishes more they learn more and being that this is only her second published novel, she still has a lot to learn but she did the thing.

I’ll def check out the second novel.

Two stars bc lack of fleshed out plot and character development

Three stars to the concept of the story
