Another great book from bea paige. Fern is a midwife who is also deaf. All of her life she has heard singing that precedes death. Fern was sweet and caring but I also feel she was a little reckless. She was very trusting immediately of three strange men with wings that just appear in her yard. I'm glad to start a new journey to save the people of ever vale. Fern's men are a little intense but mihr is my favorite. He seemed to be the one most concerned with fern's opinions which I find to be very important. Can't wait for the next part to find out what will happen.

After an absolute belter of an opening chapter that great atmosphere didn't last and things unfortunately took a nosedive. There was a lot of absolute nothing in this book. Long scenes of rambling text that tended to go on for ever just felt like the author was going for deep and thought provoking but it came out as tedious and long winded. Every other chapter I was just wishing they'd get on with things but no another long winded paragraph of Fern's inner musings about the mysterious angel of death. We spent far too much time in Fern's head, trust me her brooding over her angel is not fun to read it's damn right boring. She's met him for all of a few minutes and now she's obsessed with him and she doesn't blame him for talking a new born baby when she's the midwife? There truly is something mentally wrong with this woman. In summary this had most of the ingredients but the recipe wasn't followed as well as it could have been. If you like books that ramble on, probably like my review, then this is for you.
Oh and just a quick note to the author - If a person is totally deaf (on a few occasions Fern turns her HAs off or takes them out completely. In the book she can't hear her mother at all or the woman screaming while in labour so she's definitely 100% totally deaf) hearing aids do not work, hearing aids can only enhance what is already there. The only kind of aid for total deafness is cochlear implants.

3.5 stars.
Fern's Decision was a good start to Fern's story. This one moves into the Angel's of Death - who we met in Accacia's story. I found this one a bit slower, more like it was setting up the scene/giving background for more action later in the series, but it was an enjoyable read.

I love how Fern has a different relationship with each of the Angels of Death and at this point of time I don't have a favourite. I love Gabe as he was the first. I love Mihr as he speaks to Fern in sign language and is so protective of her. I love Ether as he is so head strong. I'm looking forward to their relationships building. I really like how the Sister's of Hex series are RH, but aren't full on sex scenes. There is more to the relationships.

I'm looking forward to following Fern and her Angels in Fern's Wings.

This is a great start to Fern’s story and a continuation that ties to Accacia’s story. You do t have to have read Acccacis first but I definitely highly recommend it so your familiar with what’s going on.

I love the world building and getting to meet the angels some more. Fern and her angels are fantastic and I can’t wait for more from them.
