This is a beautiful and highly challenging look at what it means to move in faith during times of mourning. I am finding it hard and yet healing as I process my own grief. Highly recommended especially for those already familiar with Nouwen’s work.

Such great consolations came from this book. Nouwen reminds us our tendency to lose hope and surrender to fatalism, what dying really means - life is a practice of depart, and our belovedness that came from the Lord. This book wants us to see death as death. filled with advices and wisdom, this book is one of my most highlighted book.

I can't say this was a page-turner. If I wasn't reading it for book group, I might have abandoned it but I'm so glad I didn't because the last three chapters were amazing. I thought it would be a quick read at 110 pages, but it's not. It demands your attention. The words are deep and healing and beautiful. I'd highly recommend to anyone, not just those going through a hard time. This is from the UMW book list.

Wow. Henri Nouwen. Just wow.
This was my first time reading anything by Nouwen and I have to say I was NOT disappointed at all. This was a beautiful, beautiful book. Convicting. Heart excavating. Thought provoking. Everything I needed it to be in this moment.
