4.5 stars.

Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is an awesome narrator.

Just one nit to pick — The “Lou” in Loudoun County rhymes with “now,” not “sue.”

I spent the first part of this book very confused and bored; which for a Rivers of London novel is very out of the ordinary. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book.

I had two issues with the book and both of them are definitely on me. One, I didn't realize till the end of part one that there were time skips which explained why I was so confused about the plot. The second was that i couldn't keep everyone he introduced straight so any time there was a big reveal, I had to flip through the entire book to see who they were talking about.

So if we exclude the issues caused by me being an idiot, the book is great. Foxglove's character is hilarious and there is a great sense of balance between the urban fantasy and sci-fi aspects of the plot.
