Love this series, but this one struck me as a tad for vicious than earlier in the series.
Love that Lottie can finally fully open her heart to Boyd. Lynch is awful-she should either grow up or get lost.
These books always grow out before they become cohesive together, weaving in all the individual regulars along the way. I just wish that some of the regulars would get happy endings for a change.

Two young boys flying a drone find body parts on the local train track. Another part is found in a nearby canal. A young woman stripping wallpaper in her new home discovers a child’s skull hidden in the wall of the home her fiancé inherited from his aunt. Shortly afterwards she is found murdered. Lottie Parker and her team are investigating and find a long history of infidelity, illegitimacy, murder and family secrets.

Another great read from the Lottie Parker series.

Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and Patricia Gibney for the ARC of this book in return for an honest review.

Patricia Gibney does it again!! Lottie Parker and her team solve an impossible case that just keeps getting worse and weirder by the minute! I couldn’t tell who did it until the very end. Love those kinds of books!! I also loved the family side of the story because real life doesn’t stop even for an investigator.

In this intense 8th book in the D. I. Lottie Parker the case Lottie is on begins with Faye Baker finding a child's skull in the walls of a home that was owned by her boyfriend Jeff. In short order, more bones are discovered by an eleven-year-old boy named Gavin and then Faye's body is discovered. Lottie is positive that all three cases are tied together, and Faye's boyfriend Jeff is one of the suspects.

Having read all seven of the previous books in this series has prepared me for the grittiness that comes with the cases that Lottie is working on. The fact that children are among the victims increase the chilling tension in this book tenfold.

Meanwhile readers are reminded of Lottie's difficult and painful past and what she is dealing with Boyd's cancer treatments. Her husband died of cancer, so now that her lover Boyd is suffering with the brutal disease is taking its toll on Lottie. Furthermore, even though Boyd isn't well, he is trying to offer support to his sister Grace.

I absolutely love this series by Patricia Gibney. In every story readers get to see how the strong, resilient Lottie, along with her team, solve difficult cases. And, at the same time, her vulnerabilities show, and this makes her a very well-rounded character. As I have felt after reading each book in this series, I am looking forward to seeing more of Lottie in future cases, as well as to see where her future with Boyd lies.

Many thanks for Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

4 Stars!

This was my first dance with the Lottie Parker series and I was not disappointed! Lottie Parker is a strong female lead character. She's a Detective Inspector, a mother, grandmother, and fiancée. She juggles all of her roles like a boss.

The story line involves skulls and body parts of different people being found. There are lots of characters with interesting problems. I loved the narrator changes and the characters were all interesting.

I'm looking forward to picking up the next Lottie Parker adventure!

A special thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Patricia Gibney for providing me with an ARC.
