I love Rachel Van Dyken's mafia books so as soon as I heard about Mafia King I knew I had to get this novella as soon as it is out.

RVD does not disappoint. I couldn't stop reading this novella. It's HOT and I just couldn't get enough!! I love this book so much and I just can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

If you love angsty, hot, sexy mafia books I think you will love this one.

If you haven't read any of Rachel's Mafia Royals books before you can read this one without having read the previous books. It's part of 1000 Dark Nights novellas and all of those can be read as standalone. It's a great way to find new to you authors.

I give this 5 out of 5.

The Mafia Royals series is fast becoming my favorite of RVD’s. The emotional turbulence, the dark and gritty violence, the complex and flawed characters, and this unbreakable and intense family bonded by both blood and honor. I just love this world she’s created- and I have long since been waiting to sink my teeth into Tank and Kartini’s story.

Tank in particular was so entrancing to me- a man with one foot in this unlawful mafia world, and one firmly planted out. But this family demands loyalty- it’s the one law they do live by, and Tank is ready to step across the line in the sand with one crucial task- protecting mafia princess Kartini. A task she doesn’t make easy, and further complicated by the next generation wedding trip.

Truth be told, Rachel’s writing is so immersive and so emotionally complex, I wasn’t sure if she could replicate the emotional fervor, angsty, and tensions with a shorter page count in a novella. Not because she’s not brilliant, but because these stories have unfolded like a fine wine- delicious upon first sip, but increasingly flavourly and complex with every passing sip. But she still captures the magic here- in a way that I think both fans of the series will enjoy but new fans will also find accessible. This is a great taste of the Royal mafia world and its inhabitants, their unique and engaging familial dynamic, and the bold and passionate writing style of RVD.

My only complaint is just that I love them so much, I wanted more. Kartini has so many nuances, and Tank is man that has been living in two worlds, so there is a lot to them. We get their essence here, a scorching chemistry and a strong emotional intimacy, and we get a great window into this world. Rachel, even in a novella, finds a way to so clearly articulate how these two are soul mates, destined to be the perfect match. And I just wanted to spend more time with them- know more of their story, dismantle their hearts (metaphorically of course) a bit more. A great indication of RVD”s character writing- how thirsty she makes me to spend even more time in their heads.

All in all, a beautiful edition of the Royal Mafia’s world, and now I’m even hungrier for the next book in the series!

Since the moment he was introduced, Tank has always been a mystery to me. I was always so curious about him and I feel like we got the tiniest insight to him with Mafia King. I loved reading about the connection between him and Kartini as well. Seriously the only upsetting thing about the novella is just that, it was too short! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Mafia King is a novella in the Mafia Royals series by Rachel Van Dyken. Rachel is the queen of mafia and I'm addicted to this series! This is Tank and Kartina's story! Tank didn't start out as part of the family. He was FBI but now he's working both sides. It's almost time for him to choose and you know, Blood In, No Out. He has one last job, guard Kartini, or Tiny. He's known her for a while and it's pretty clear she hates him. But you know what they say about love and hate. Turns out she doesn't hate him at all, it's more of an annoying crush! Now they are sleeping in the same hotel suite and trying to behave. Tank swore to protect her at all costs and he isn't about to disappoint Sergio, her father. He knows how that story ends. Will Tank and Tiny make it out alive or will they kill each other? Oh man! I loved this story! I've loved Tank since we met him and he lived up to all my expectations and more! Kartini is freaking hilarious and just the woman for him! Can't wait to find out who's next!

It was a cute story. I wish this book would’ve been longer but what can I say, at least we got one. The book was displayed evenly for a Novella. Usually these books tend to be too quick too soon but RVD did a good job.

Tank though!! I didn’t think I would like him but never mind

Going in to this I knew one thing. I didn’t like Tank. I don’t know why but for some reason or another I just didn’t like him. So I was skeptical..... anyways I did like Kartini. Sooo
I supposed tank has redeemed himself in my eyes. I mean I didn’t hate him at the end but I still don’t love him. But anyways the book was fast paced and did what it set out to do. Kartini became who she was meant to become with who she needed by her side at the end.
Quick sweet and to the point. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next book.

I've been in this mafia world since day 1 and I just love it. Tank is one of my fav newbies. I love a good bad guy. Tank and Tiny are just fire. Seeing two completely life stories come together to make something beautiful is worth everything. RVD did her thang again!
