I guess this is one of those books than everybody should read at least once in their lives. I liked it, I enjoyed it, but I guess I couldn't fully appreciate because there where a lot of poems, songs and riddles that I never learned as a child. I think I should try and read the Dutch translation so that I can see the difference that that makes.

Strong female:
Alice is of course just a little girl and besides her there aren't any real female characters, so this book can't really be judged by it's female badassness. As far as it can be judged, I think Alice is an independent, clever girl that doesn't need anybody saving her so far.
