An much needed sympathetic take on one of Greek mythology's most reviled women.  From the first time I read the story of Clytemnestra I didn't understand why she was painted as the villain.  While she might be morally ambiguous, she isn't the villain.

This book was so incredible that I finished all but the last two chapters in one sitting. I truly couldn't put it down. It embodies the "I support women's rights and women's wrongs" trope with the perfect blend of strong female characters and female rage. 10/10. I will absolutely be revisiting this one.

I was looking forward to this book for a while and it fulfilled all of my expectations.
Being familiar with Greek mythology and Clytemnestras story I knew what I was going into. I've also read a few other retelling of Greek mythology so I knew there would likely be a critical discussion of societal issues, deep and complex character work and graphic descriptions of the horror of these times.
Clytemnestra is a complex and not necessarily likeable character and the Author doesn't shy back from showing her flaws. As a "God forbid a women does anything" (sarcastic) enthusiast I love books which portray women as humans who have both positive and negative traits.
The book is also very well written and has a nice flow.
The side characters and their relationships with Clytemnestra are well developed.
All in all I enjoyed reading the book. It stands out amongst other retellings and I'm already looking forward to the authors next book.

The retelling of female mythological characters is a delicate execution. This novel seeks to excavate the life and thoughts of one of the most ruthless women in Greek mythology, the wife of the ruthless king Agamemnon. This novel undertakes the retelling of Clytmnestra’s life from childhood to middle age as she rules in the absence of her husband during the famed Trojan War. This book is very similar to other feminist retelling of myths such as the novel Kaiyeki.
