I really loved this book but
the rape scene really ruined a lot of it for me and how Althea got no justice.
Other than that it was excellent but I don’t like the way that was written :(

as always, i stayed up extremely late to read this, because all my self restraint goes when i read robin hobb. the live ship trader trilogy is so meticulously set out, i am at awe with how each pov seamlessly blends into one large comprehensible plot! as always, i was stressed out reading this, only because i am SO ATTACHED TO THESE CHARACTERS!!

SO MANY QUESTIONS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED!!!
kennit’s backstory … woah like he’s an evil dick and i’ll never forgive him for what he did to althea, but damn, he’s got a sad backstory… NOT AN EXCUSE THO AND HE DESERVED A MORE PAINFUL DEATH 🤬🤬

paragon being the ship igrot took?!?! i absolutely love paragon, and now they’ve got igrot’s stash… WE SO UP RN ☝🏽☝🏽 OMG ALSO AMBER IS THE FOOL!! AND SHE GAVE PARAGON FITZ FACE IM SCREAMIJG INTO A VOID

it’s so funny because when i finished the farseer trilogy, i thought id be so excited to be done with the liveship trader trilogy. turns out I DONT WANNA LEAVE 😭🤥 the problem with these books is that they’re so addictive you just want to consume the book as soon as possible, but the downside is that soon you’ll be done with it all. i could write forever, but i’ll end this here…. WE UP RN WOOO

A very good book to round out the trilogy - the pacing was great and the characters as interesting and complex as they usually are in a Robin Hobb novel. I like how everything concluded in this novel and unlike the Farseer Trilogy I felt that the characters had some time to actually get an epilogue.

Kennit was as complex of an antagonist as ever - and he did tip over into villainous with his actions in this book. I don't feel like his actions were out of left field. His way of thinking is truly that of an abusive man who justifies his actions with the past actions done to him. It does not absolve him but hurts those around him
Aletha especially. I understand his actions never being revealed is a point of contention, for me personally I don't think Robin Hobb is the writer who wraps things up in such a way that makes it a power fantasy - she's writing to be realistic more than satisfying.
The resolution of each characters trauma is dealt with such a deft hand, not just for the characters who feel it but the characters around them react in such a realistic way.

The final climax of all the characters finally meeting felt so good to read, though some characters meeting went very badly. I liked all the characters and how Paragon found his eventual peace. I love Fitz but this series was a refreshing change of pace before diving back into his side of the saga.
