This was such a bright spark of a book, I loved it a lot. It was very cute and sweet and warm whilst also being really steamy and hot. As characters, Winnie and Kallum ndividually were both so endearing and really well-drawn, it was a pleasure to get to know them over the course of the book. The chemistry between Winnie and Kallum was so delicious, and their scenes together were just lovely. The way Winnie learned to embrace her sexuality was beautifully done, as was how careful and considerate Kallum was of her.

It was just a really warm story. There were angsty moments, for sure, but they were worked into the story so seamlessly it didn’t feel bogged down by it. The conflict felt very natural to me, too. But the main thing about this book is how it put a big smile on my face. There were parts of the book where I felt very, very sorry for Winnie, but it also made me laugh a lot. The balance between these two aspects was struck really well, in my opinion.

Overall this was just a really solid romance book; fun and warm, so readable, very inclusive, with very likable main characters. I loved their relationship and how it developed, how they gave each other space, and there were some truly romantic bits to it – my favourite quote: “I wasn’t thinking of you like my dog,” I told her. “More like the first thing I’d grab in a burning building.” Just lovely!

Content Notes: Celebrity, kissing lessons, forced proximity, seasonal, very mild hate-to-love (one-sided).

Warnings:
SpoilerControlling behaviour from a parent, controlling behaviour from an ex, heavy focus on purity culture, mild injuries, blood, pregnancy complications
SpoilerFMC starts bleeding in early stages of pregnancy and fears she’s miscarrying, but she isn’t and the baby is safely delivered between the end of the story and the epilogue.
, narcolepsy.

Other:
SpoilerOn-page sex, semi public sex, oral sex, use of sex toys, anal play, unplanned pregnancy (FMC), OW scenes
SpoilerThe first time the reader meets the MMC he’s in the middle of having sex with OW. This scene is on-page and is explicit. The MMC also has a sex tape which features heavily in the book. The FMC watches it and masturbates, and snippets from the sex scene are explicitly described on-page.
, divorce (FMC, in past), OM drama
SpoilerFMC’s ex-husband appears in a few chapters trying to persuade her to return to their marriage. They’re already divorced and she isn’t interested. There’s a brief confrontation between the MMC and the OM.

This book felt extremely long, like there were multiple spots it could’ve ended which was a bit exhausting.

Winnie also drove me nuts, and I know she had a rough history, but she was extremely judgmental of Kallum. Kallum in the other hand was very sweet and I really enjoyed his character.

I AM BOYCOTTING SIERRA SIMONE BECAUSE SHE IS IN ALIGNMENT WITH CHLOE LIESE. I'm not even gonna bother editing my long ass post from my Chloe Liese's reviews. If anything, I want more people to know about what they did now.

0 stars!

Chloe Liese, your plots and characters were always cringe, and you don't have talent in writing, now you're also a hypocritical cowardly person who pick and choose which humanitarian crisis made more sense to you? FUCK YOU!

Stupid-ugly-ass-fuck-of-a-white-privileged-Zionist-supporting author. You want to call out ableism but draw the line at calling Zionist ugly and stupid, while never speaking up about the genocide of Jewish, Muslims, Christians, Atheist, Theist Palestinians? FUCK YOU! White women are just always so fucking disappointing. #FreePalestine

For anybody who didn't know, look up Chloe Liese, Sierra Simone, and Zachary Webber issue on social media. Allegedly, Zachary Webber (an audiobook narrator) called out Zionists, and these two cowardly authors were cancelling him just because he called those ugly stupid ass Zionists what they are: stupid and motherfucking ugly. If that was me, i would've called them disgusting and more too.

CHLOE LIESE IF YOU'RE READING THIS DON'T EVEN FUCKING TURN THIS INTO A MISOGYNY ISSUE. THIS IS A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS ISSUE, DUMBASS. LEBANON WAS FUCKING BOMBED JUST A FEW DAYS AGO, DON'T EVEN MAKE THIS ABOUT YOU. CALLING AUTHORS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY! BOYCOTT HER!

#FreePalestine #FuckZionists.

And to think that this issue literally still happened after 12 months and DECADES of being shown the atrocious ethnic cleansing of Palestinians on social media, and the bombing of Lebanon just this September 2024? HOLD THIS MOTHERFUCKING AUTHOR RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SHIT THAT COMES OUT OF HER STUPID FUCKING MOUTH.

Fuck Chloe Liese. #Boycott #FreePalestine

Thoughts

Returning to Christmas Notch was fun!

This had a a tad bit more plot than the first but just as fun. This had a trope that I see people talk about hating a lot and I had only read once before and I admit it isn't my favorite.

But it was still fun and the way it was handled was done decently.

It was funny and spicy and just a great read after a lot of heavier reads.

This was just the book I needed at the moment. A Christmas romance with lots of smut. The second half had one of my least favourite romance tropes but it actually worked and was used well for character and relationship development. Plus the book was 🔥 and Winnie and Kallum were as cute as anything.
