Such a hard book to describe in a quick review. It's a middle-aged man remembering the great love of his life, his jealousy, and possible betrayal. The tone is magnificent and even harder to explain than the plot.

Agora entendo quem diz que não importa se a Capitu traiu ou não. É uma narrativa realista.  O que importa é que Escobar morre, e depois disso, Bentinho estraga a própria vida por ter ciúmes do defunto. Enquanto Bentinho lamenta que Ezequiel "não seja seu filho", o menino o chama de pai.
