I will never understand Colleens need to write about triggering/traumatic topics and lack of ability to adequately research the topics, give the characters enough depth and realism to react/recover from those traumas/triggers AND/OR at the very least include supports or resources for readers?

I am not much for romance novels, so guess I should've paid more attention to the summary and the author when this was recommended for the OUABC 2024 reading challenge prompt, "a book that takes place in autumn."  Having finished it, I am seriously considering using it for the "a book that made you laugh out loud" instead.

So many eye roll moments.
So many WTF did she / he just say / do moments.
So many I'm sorry, you're HOW old moments.
So many sure...riiiiiight moments.

It was still a cute-ish story with an interestingly unbelievable plot line, and, as I admitted, laugh out loud funny at times, although I don't think that was the author's intent.  It was enjoyable enough in a totally-not-what-I-would've-chosen-to-read kind of way.

Colleen Hoover needs a content warning on every book I've read of hers and this one is no exception.  It wasn't as emotionally disturbing as some of her other books and it really did have a good story line. Big twist at the end. But this will probably be my last book of hers. I don't much care for her writing style or her need to write about such emotionally disturbed characters. I find myself waiting fir that ax to fall and it has taken away from the story for me.

This book had me on a roller coaster of emotions and I will need some time to recover. WOW! First CoHo book I’ve ever read and it hath absolutely shook me. You will feel so many things reading this and the highs and lows will be absolutely devastating. TW for suicide. It does happen off page but the discovery of the deceased happens ON PAGE. Know this going in. This one…is going to stick with me for a long long while. Officially a CoHo fan!
