I am circling back to my ratings for the Curtis Black series. When I first started reading these books I was extremely engulfed in the drama. After taking a break to read other books and coming back to the series, I’ve learned (always knew but reading other books solidified it for me) that the text is so elementary and basic. The writing is so middle schoolish. So please be ware that my high ratings are for the Black church drama that kept me intrigued and not necessarily the writing. If you’re looking for utter drama and what comes off as a telenovela, then this series is for you. I still enjoyed it but I value my ratings more. Lol

Predictable plot and conclusion but well written.  A great beach/travel book for summer.

I got through the first 5 chapters and this just wasn't doing it for me. I read CF to get all the warm fuzzies and feel goods. I was just stressed listening to this. The chapter's I got through were nothing but the main character arguing with her husband and her talking about how much she hates him. Too much drama for me. Also I think labeling this under Christian Fiction is to gentle for this book. Maybe contemporary romance is better suited due to the swearing and little more detailed sexual escapedes of the unfaithful husband.

Christian based novel. The story of a dishonest pastor, his wife and his infidelities. A well written novel and a solid storyline. Enough lessons to go a round. I am moving on to the 2nd book in the series.
