I actually really enjoyed this, so much more than I expected to really, because I’ve heard really mixed things.  This does have the typical indie fantasy thing where it can end on a cliffhanger and in the middle of the action, because this had a small climax but this is still the build up, there wasn’t a resolution to it, but it does make me want to pick up the next one.

Auren is such a cool character because she is sheltered and naive, and also a prisoner, but she’s happy like that, would she like to spend more time with other people? yes, but she also had a really hard start to life and now feels safe in her golden cage. The reveal at the end is so good because it starts to explain why she is treated the way she is and why Midas is so protective.

The men in this are all terrible, except Digby and Sail, and what is interesting is that they all have the typically desirable MMC traits, such as Midas is super possessive but not in a positive way, in a controlling way. I did like how her relationship with Rissa is developing, from rivals to Rissa realising that Auren was trying to help her and wasn’t being kept apart by her own choice.

I’m excited to read the next book because fae!

The only reason this book got a 3 is because of the ending. the rest of the book was a drag

This book was so enthralling from start to finish! The writing style was mature and had great character growth. It did a great job switching POV’s without it being too often. I enjoyed it from start to finish!

Was just dragging sooooo much. I feel like this whole book could’ve been condensed into three chapters. Introduction, travels, enter MMC. Have faith it picks up and gets better but idk, we’ll see.
