What did I just listen? This book was not for me... I didn't like the way women are described and used jn this book. You are always keep in the edge asking yourself when she will be sexually abuse... Worse thing is, there are parts I enjoyed in the book but I cannot get over the violence, rape, Stockholm syndrome, abuse and misogyny.

I’m glad I decided to start reading this, I tried a year ago and DNF three chapters in. I hope that rot king dude is the live interest. And calling her a golden finch was shocking, I’m pretty sure that is the title of the last book. I don’t like king Mitus

Compelling world building, character dev is wayyyyy too slow for me— hate feeling like I don’t even know the MC after ~300pgs of first person narration

So yeah, still unsure with Auren. Lots of potential but got little to nothing after a lot of on page time together. Very show don’t tell with her development but I want more what’s going through her head.

Liked the spin on the King Midas story. Auren’s Stockholm Syndrome is totally showing, but I love her inner commentary and positive attitude. I definitely see her character growing already and look forward to seeing her strength blossom. I already know Midas is a bad guy. . .because he’s blonde. Lol. Diving into Book 2 immediately.

Not my favorite writing, but I’m hopeful for this series. I found it really interesting seeing the dynamic between Auren and Midas play out. It’s clearly abusive and manipulative, but the main character doesn’t realize that yet. So you want to see her get past her love for him and step out of her cage, even if she’s infuriating in the mean time

This book is a promising start, although I will say Auren did annoy me a little. But I'm looking forward to see where this story takes us and Auren. I feel like this was definitely just the tip of the iceberg.

I'm in, I'm hooked, I'm excited to read more!
I enjoyed the start to this series and the breadcrumbs the author is sprinkling for us to build this world! Even though a whole lot of nothing happens throughout pretty much the entire book I was entranced by it and consumed every moment!
